Question :- Find the angle between two lines whose slopes are -5/6 and 1/11. ?

Solution :-

we know that, the acute angle θ between the two lines whose slopes are m₁ and m₂ is given by :-

  • tanθ = | (m₁ - m₂) / (1 + m₁ * m₂) |

putting m₁ = (-5/6) and m₂ = (1/11) , we get,

→ tanθ = | {(-5/6) - (1/11)} / {1 + (-5/6) * (1/11)}

→ tanθ = | {(-55 -6) /66} / { 1 - (5/66) }

→ tanθ = | (-61/66) / {(66 - 5) / 66} |

→ tanθ = | (-61/66) / (61/66) |

→ tanθ = | (-1) |

→ tanθ = 1

→ tanθ = tan45°

→ θ = 45° .(Ans.)

Hence, angle between the given lines is 45° .
