here,

line n is 180 degree (linear)

so 180-120 =60

hence, x=60

now, y=120 (congruent)

  • Value of x is 60°.
  • Value of y is 60°.

Step-by-step explanation:

To find:-

  • Value of x and y.

Solution:-

By First method :-

We know,

Sum of all angles forms on straight line is 180°. This statement is also known as linear pair.

So,

⇒x + 120° = 180°

⇒x = 180° - 120°

x = 60°

Value of x is 60°

∠1 = 120° [By Vertically opposite angles]

We also know,

When two parallel lines interest by an transversal then sum of interior angles forms on same side transversal is 180°. This also known as Co-interior angles.

So, Here n and m are two parallel lines which are interested by an transversal t.

• ∠1 + y = 180°

⇒120° + y = 180°

⇒y = 180° - 120°

y = 60°

Value of y is 60°.

By second method :-

x = 60° [By Linear pair]

We know,

When two parallel lines intersect by an transversal then their corresponding angles are equal.

So,

⇒x = y = 60°

Value of x is 60°.

Value of y is 60°.
