Let a be the side length.

Then, Area of a square = a²

Given a = 1 are

Area = 1×1 (are)²

= 1 (are)²

(i) If side length = 2a

= 2

Area = 2×2=4 (are)²

(ii) if side length = a/2

= 1/2

Area = 1/4 (are)²
