The tank can hold 6000 liters in all

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the capacity of tank be x liters

One- third of a tank is filled with water.

Amount of water =\frac{1}{3}x

When another 100 litres of water was poured in,it became half full.

So,\frac{1}{3}x+1000=\frac{x}{2}

1000=\frac{x}{2}-\frac{1}{3}x

1000=\frac{3x-2x}{6}

6000=x

Hence the tank can hold 6000 liters in all
