given \:  {x}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} }

{(x + \frac{1}{x})}^{2}  =  {x}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} }  + 2

{(x + \frac{1}{x})}^{2}  = 98 + 2

{(x + \frac{1}{x})}^{2}  =100

(x + \frac{1}{x})  = \sqrt{100}

x + \frac{1}{x}  =10

{(x + \frac{1}{x})}^{3}  = {x}^{3}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{3} }  + 3(x +  \frac{1}{x} )

 {10}^{3}  =  {x}^{3}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{3} }  + 3 \times 10

1000 =  {x}^{3}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{3} }  + 30

 {x}^{3}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{3} }   = 1000 - 30

 {x}^{3}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{3} }   = 970
