∴ x/y = 4/3
⇒ 3x = 4y
⇒ 3x - 4y = 0 -----(1)
Also,
x+5/y+5 = 5/4
⇒ 4(x+ 5) = 5(y + 5)
⇒ 4x + 20 = 5y + 25
⇒ 4x - 5y = 5 -----(2)
Multiplying (1) with 5, we get
15x - 20y = 0
Multiplying (2) with 4, we get
16x - 20y = 20
Solving (1) and (2)
15x - 20y = 0
16x - 20y = 20. (-)
⇒ x = 20
∴ 3x = 4y
⇒ 3 × 20/4 = y
⇒ 15 = y.
∴ Present Age of Sahil = 20 years.
Present Age of Nikhil = 15 years.
