SOLUTION

• Common difference (d) = -3
• a5 = 5

→ a5 = a + (n - 1)d

→ 5 = a + (5 - 1)(-3)

→ 5 = a + 4*(-3)

→ 5 = a - 12

→ a = 5 + 12 = 17

Now,

• First term (a) = 17
• d = -3

→ a2 = a + (n - 1)d

→ a2 = 17 + (2 - 1)(-3)

→ a2 = 17 - 3 = 14

→ a3 = a + (n - 1)d

→ a3 = 17 + (3 - 1)(-3)

→ a3 = 17 - 6 = 11

→ a4 = a + (n - 1)d

→ a4 = 17 + (4 - 1)(-3)
