side of square ABCD=14cm

side of square EFGH=4 cm

To find: the area allotted to non-violence.

Solution:

Draw the required figure.

Observe that from the figure,

EO=HO=OG=OF=7 cm

Find the area allotted to non violence.

Area allotted to non violence= area of the square HDGQ- area of shaded

                                                                                               regionXQZYO.

\[\begin{array}{l} = 7 \times 7 - \left( {\left( {2 \times 2} \right) + \frac{1}{4}\pi  \times 2 \times 2 + \frac{1}{4}\pi  \times 2 \times 2} \right)\\ = 49 - \left( {4 + \frac{1}{4} \times \frac{{22}}{7} \times 2 \times 2 + \frac{1}{4} \times \frac{{22}}{7} \times 2 \times 2} \right)\\ = 49 - \left( {10.28} \right)\\ = 38.72c{m^2}\end{array}\]

Hence, the area allotted to non-violence is \[38.72c{m^2}\].
