Answer:

Let a be the side of a square, l be the length and b be the breadth of rectangle.

As length of wire is constant, perimeter of both shapes would be same,

⇒4a=2(l+b)

⇒40=2(12+b)

⇒b=18 cm

Area of square=a

2

=10

2

=100cm

2

Area of rectangle=lb=12×18=216cm

2

Area of rectangle greater by 116cm sq

QUESTION ⤵️

Find the area and perimeter of a square ⬛ of side 10 cm and a rectangle of sides 12 cm and 8 cm compare the both

SOLUTION⤵️

Perimeter of square = 4a

Area of square = a2

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 ( l + b)

Area of rectangle = l × b

In square

Given =

side = 10cm

Find = 1.Area and 2. perimeter

sol:

Area of ⬛

 = a {}^{2}  = 10 \times 10 \\  = 100cm {}^{2}

And,

Perimeter of ⬛

= 4( side) = 4 × 10 cm

= 40 cm

In rectangle

lenght = 12cm

breadth = 8cm

Find :- Area and perimeter of rectangle

sol :-

Area of rectangle = 12cm × 8cm

= 96cm

And,

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 ( l + b )

= 2 ( 12 + 8 )

= 2 × 40 cm

= 80 cm

Hence,

Area of rectangle = 96cm

Area of square = 100cm2

Perimeter of rectangle = 80cm

perimeter of = 40cm
