*Assuming Length QU = RA

The figure can be split into a trapezium ERQS and a rectangle QRAU

Find the area of the trapezium:

Area = 1/2 ( a + b ) x h

Area = 1/2 ( 8 + 16 ) (30 - 22)

Area = 1/2 ( 24 ) (8)

Area = 96 cm²

Find the area of the rectangle:

Area = Length x Breadth

Area = 22 x 16

Area = 352 cm²

Find the total area:

Total area = 96 + 352 = 448 cm²

Answer: The area of the figure is 448 cm²

The area enclosed by the following figure is 448 sq. cms.
Explanation:
Area of the enclosed figure = area under the bigger rectangular area with length 30 cm and breadth 16 cm subtracted by two triangles of of height 4 cm and breadth 8cm
= (30cm x 16 cm) - 2(1/2 x4cm x 8cm)
=480 sq. cms - 32 sq. cms
= 448 sq. cms
