then by Pythagoras theorem
the third side will be 12 cm.

hence
area of the triangle=1/2 × 12 × 5,

=6×5=30cm²

let base = 5cm
(hypotenuse )²=(base)²+(perpendicular)²
13²=5²+p²
169=25+p²
144=p²
12=p
area of the =1/2×base×height
=1/2×5×12
=30
