find the area of a parallelogram PQRS if PR=24 cm and QU=ST=6cm

cutting through PQ we get two triangles.
ΔSPR and ΔQPR

hence are of parallelogram= area of ΔSPR+ area of  ΔQPR

Area of triangle=1/2(base) x (height)
area of ΔSPR=1/2(24)x(6)
                     =72 cm²

Area of ΔQPR=1/2(24)x(6)
                      =72 cm²

Total are of paralelogram=72+72=144 cm²
