one side, l = 35m

diagonal, d = 37m

let the other side = b

b, d and l will form a right angled triangle.

using pythagoras theorem,

d² = b² + l²

⇒ 37² = b² + 35²

⇒ b² = 37² - 35² = 144

⇒ b = √144 = 12m

thus, length of plot = 35m

breadth = 12m

Area of plot = lb = 35×12 = 420 m²

Q) Find the area of a rectangular plot,one side of which measures 35m and the diagonal is 37 m.

Answer:-

The answer is 420 m²

Explanation-

the b = 35 m and diagonal= 37 m which also

gives us two right angled triangle. We know

that

(b)² + (l)² gives us the square of the

hypotenuse.

So, we will reverse it means (h)²- (b)² = (l)²

So, (37)² - (35)² = 1369 - 1225 = 144 which is

the square of 12.

Length = 12

Breadth = 35

Area = 12×35= 420 m²
