Area of Rectangular plot

Answer: Required area of rectangular plot is 672 square meter.

Explanation:

Given that width of rectangular plot = 48 meters

Diagonal of the plot = 50 meters

Need to find the area of rectangular plot.

To calculate the area we need to first calculate length of the rectangular plot.

let assume length of the rectangular plot be represented by variable y

As all the angles of rectangle is of 90° , diagonal divides rectangle into two equal right angles where width and length are two other sides of right angled triangle.

so Diagonal can be treated as hypotenuse and on applying pythagorous theorem we get

Diagonal² = length² + width²

=> 50² = y² + 48²

=> y² =  50² - 48² = 196m

=> y = √196 = 14 meters

Area of rectangular plot = length x width = 14m x 48 meters = 672 square meter.

Hence required area of rectangular plot is 672 square meter.
