Given : Hexagon of side 5cm given in below fig. 13.23

To Find : area of a regular hexagon using the formula of area of trapezium

Solution:

AF = CD = 5 cm

BE = 11 cm

Height of Each trapezium = 8/2 = 4 cm

Area of Trapezium = (1/2)( Sum of parallel Sides  ) * Distance between Sides

Area of Trapezium  BEDC = (1/2)(BE + DC) * height

= (1/2) (11 + 5) * 4

= (1/2) * 16 * 4

= 32  cm²

Similarly Area of Trapezium  AFEB = 32  cm²

Area of Hexagon = 32 + 32 =  64  cm²
