Area of ∆ ABC = (1/2)(AB)(BC)

If the hypotenuse is taken as the base and BD as the

height then the area of the ∆AB

= (1/2)(AC)(BD)

=> (1/2)(5)(BD) = 6 from (1)

=> BD = 12/5 = 2.4 cm.
