Let the side of square = a
Area of square = a²
Length of its side is doubled = 2a
New area = (2a)² = 4a²
Ratio of new area to its previous area = 4a² / a² = 4 : 1
Area of square = a²
Length of its side is doubled = 2a
New area = (2a)² = 4a²
Ratio of new area to its previous area = 4a² / a² = 4 : 1

area=s²
now,new side=2s
new area =(2s)²
