Given that square is inscribed in a circle. Radius of circle = 4cm.

When a square is inscribed in a circle it follows that diameter of the circle is the diagonal os the square.

In other words, diagonal of the square = 2x radius = 8 cm.

the two sides of the square and the diagonal form a right angled triangle.a^2+a^2 = 8^2

2a^2 =64

a = 4\sqrt{2}

Hence area of square = axa= 16x2 = 32 sq.cm.

When diagonal is 8 cm, if a is the side then
