SOLUTION :

The perimeter of a square lawn = 272 m   (given)

To be found :-

The cost of preparing flower bed in the lawn at Rs 16 per m sq.

To find the cost, we have to find the area of square

We know that,

Perimeter of square = 4a unit  

[ In which a is the side of the sqaure ]

⇒ 4a = 272

⇒ a = 272 ÷ 4

⇒ a = 68

∴ The side of the square is 68 m

Now,

Area of a square = $\bf{ {a}^{2} }$  unit sq.

[ In which a is the side of the square ]

So,

Area of the square lawn

= $\bf{ {a}^{2} }$  unit sq.

= $\bf{ {(68)}^{2} }$  m sq.

= 4624 m sq.

∴ The area of the square lawn is 4624 m sq.

Now,

If the cost of preparing flower bed for 1 m sq. = Rs 16

So,

The cost for preparing flower bed in the square lawn will be

= 16 × 4624

= Rs 73984

Hence,

The cost for preparing flower bed in the square lawn is Rs 73984
