[ Since, it is a square so both diagonals will be of same length ]

area =  \frac{1}{2}  \times 72 \: cm \times 72 \: cm \\  \\  =  > 36 \: cm \times 72 \: cm \\  \\  =  > 2592 \:  {cm}^{2}

Thus, area of square is 2592 sq. cm

Since diagonal of the square is equal to the side of the square
therefore  \:  \\ area \: of \: square = 72 \times 72 \\  \\ 5184cm { }^{2}
