Answer:

Area = 216 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

Find length ED:

ED = CD - EC =  36 - 12 = 24 cm

Since BC // AE,

⇒ ΔAED is an isosceles Δ

⇒ AP is the bisector of ∠EAD

Find length AP:

AP² + PD² = AD²

AP² + (24 ÷ 2)² = 15²

AP² = 15² - 12²

AP² = 81

AP = √81

AP = 9 cm

Find the area of the trapezium:

Area = 1/2 (a + b) h

Area = 1/2 ( 12 + 36) (9)

Area = 216 cm²

Answer: Area = 216 cm²
