area of triangle = 1/2 |x1 (y2-y3) + x2 (y3-y1) + x3 (y1-y2)|

= 1/2 | 5 (7+4) + 4 (-4-2) + 7 (2-7)|

= 1/2 | 5 (11) + 4 (-6) +7 (-5)|

= 1/2 |55-24-35|

= 1/2 | 31-35|

= 1/2 (4)

= 2 square units
