area of an equilateral triangle = √3 x²/4
proof-
let us draw an altitude from any vertex,
length of altitude = √[(x)²-(x/2)²]
                           =√3 x/2
now area = (1/2)×base ×height
                =(1/2)×(x)×(√3 x/2)
                = √3 x²/4 cm²
