AREA OF AN EQUILATERAL TRIANAGLE=

 \sqrt{3} {a}^{2}  \div 4

SO

 \sqrt{3 \times 12 {}^{2} }  \div 4

 \sqrt{3 \times 144}  \div 4

 \sqrt{432 \div 4}

SO THE FINAL ANSWER IS:5.19.
