Find the area of an isosceles triangle each of whose equal side measure 13cm and whose base measure 20cm

We drop a perpendicular from the vertex.

Call it lenght h

We know that this line divises the base into 2 equal parts.

From pythagoras theorem,

10²+h²=13²

100+h²=169

h²=69

h=√69

Area of a triangle is 1/2xbxh

=1/2x20x√69

=10√69 sq cm
