Let the same side of the triangles be a and b.
a = b.
the triangle has a hypotenuse (c) which means it is a right angle triangle.
By Pythagoras theorem,

a² + b² = c²
2a² = (40)²
a² = 1600/2
a = 20√2 cm

area of a traingle
= 1/2 × base × height
= 1/2 × 20√2 × 20√2
= 400 cm²
