Area of the given figure=area of rectangle ABCD+area of rectangle DEJK+area of rectangle EFHI

So area of rectangle ABCD= L×B

=BC×AB

=8×2

=16cm²

area of rectangle DEJK=L×B

=KJ×KD

=KJ×(BC-AK)

=5×(8-5)

=5×3

=15cm²

area of rectangle EFHI=L×B

=FH×HI

=8×2

=16cm²

Area of the given figure=area of rectangle ABCD+area of rectangle DEJK+area of rectangle EFHI

=(16+15+16)cm²
