area of four rectangle =4(l×b)

= 4(4*1)

= 16cm²

$area \: of \: square = {side}^{2}$

= side of square =1cm

area= 1²

= 1cm²

$total \: area \: of \: figure = \\ area \: of \: rectangle \: + \: area \: of \: square$

= 16cm + 1cm

= 17 cm²
