So from the figure we can say that it is made up of 2 equilateral triangles and one rectangle.

  1. The slope of the triangle is equal to 5 cm. By using Pythagoras' theorem, we can conclude by saying that the height of the triangle is equal to 3 cm. [Since 3²+4²=5²]
  2. We know that area of a triangle is 1/2 base× height. By using this we can say that the area of the triangle is 3×2=6 cm².
  3. Since height of the triangle is part of the breadth of the rectangle we can say that the breadth of the rectangle=3+4=7 cm.
  4. Area of a rectangle is l×b. In this case it is 56 cm².
  5. By adding up all of the areas, we can say it is equal to 56+6+6= 78cm².
