Above is the figure of a hexagon.

Which is made up of 6 equilateral triangles with a side of length 8 cm.

Area of an equilateral triangle
 = \frac{ \sqrt{3} }{4} {side}^{2}

 = \frac{ \sqrt{3} }{4} \: {8}^{2}

 = 16 \: \sqrt{3} \: c {m}^{2}

Area of hexagon
= number of equilateral triangles x area of one equilateral triangle

= 6 x  16 \: \sqrt{3} \: c {m}^{2}

 = 96 \: \sqrt{3} \: c {m}^{2}
