Total Area of Rectangle = ( 10 × 4 ) cm² = 40cm²

Area of 1 quadrant = πr²/4

Here , r = 1 cm { as the breadth of rectangle ( i.e. 4cm ) acts as a diameter for 2 quadrants ,

so , half of breadth of rectangle ( i.e. 4/2 cm = 2 cm ) acts as a diameter for 1 quadrant ,

so , radius of 1 quadrant = 2/2 cm = 1 cm

=> Area of 1 quadrant = π ( 1 ) ² / 4 = π/4

=> Area of 4 such quadrants = π/4 × 4 = π

Therefore , area of shaded portion = Area of rectangle - area of 4 quadrants

= ( 40-π ) cm²

Shaded portion = ( 40-π ) cm²
