Area of the shaded region = Area of the trapezium - Area of the semicircle.

= 1/2(a+b)h - πr²/2

= 1/2(35 + 45)24 - (22/7)(35/2)²(1/2)

= 40(24) - (22/7)(35/2)(35/2)(1/2)

= 960 - 481.25 = 478.75

Area of the shaded region = 478.75cm²
