Given :

A concentric rectangle

  • Length of outer rectangle → 60 m
  • Breadth of outer rectangle → 40 m
  • Length of inner rectangle → 56 m
  • Breadth of inner rectangle → 36 m

Find :

  • Find the area of shaded portion.

Formula required :-

  • Area of Rectangle → l × b

where,

" l " → length

" b " → breadth

SoLuTioN :-

For area of outer rectangle -

  • L = 60
  • B = 40

So, area = l × b

Substituting the values in it ,we get

\implies 60 × 40

\implies 2400 m²

For area of inner rectangle -

  • L = 56
  • B = 36

So, area = l × b

Substituting the values in it ,we get

\implies 56 × 36

\implies 2016 m²

Now, for the area of shaded region :-

Area of shaded portion → Area of outer rectangle - Area of inner rectangle

  • 2400 - 2016
  • 384 m²

Hence, The area of the shaded portion is 384 m²

\implies What we done ?

  • First we had found the area of outer rectangle and after that the area of inner rectangle. Then, for the area of shaded portion we simply subtracted the area of inner region from the area of outer region.
