the lengthwise shaded area's length is 100 m (given in the figure) and its breadth is 4 m so first you find its area you multiply 100 and 4 which is 400 m square. then the breadthwise shaded portion's length and breadth will be 60 and 4 respectively so you multiply that to find the area and you will get 240 m square. then to remove the overlapping little box in the center you find the area of that which is 4 multiplied by 4 giving 16 m square. now you add the length and breadth of the shaded portion ( which you just now found out) and minus it with the overlapping little square in the middle. 400 plus 240 minus 16 giving 624 meter square , which is the ANSWER.
