area of shaded portion =200 -75

=3×3=9+9

=18cm

(a) Length of the whole rectangle= 20cm

breadth of the rectangle= 10cm

area of the rectangle= 20 x 10= 200cm².

area of the unshaded part= 1/2 x 15 x 10= 75cm²

.: area of the shaded = 200cm²-75cm²= 125cm².

(b)

area of a small square=3 x 3 = 9cm²

since there are 2 small squares, 9 x 2= 18cm²
