110 cm2,150 cm2

Step-by-step explanation:

first diagram:

first find the area of the rectangle(ABCD):

l*w=18*10=180

second find the area of triangle(EAF):

:l*b/2=10*6/2=30

third find the area of triangle (CBE):

:l*b/2=10*8/2=40

AREA OF THE SHADED PORTION IS :

AREA OF THE RECTANGLE -(AREA OF TRIANGLE(EAF)+AREA OF TRIANGLE(CBE)

180-(30+40)=110

AREA OF THE SHADED PORTION=110 CM2

SECOND diagram:

first find the area of the square (PQRS):a*a

20*20=400 cm2

second find the area of the triangle (PQT):l*b/2

20*10/2=100

third find the area of the triangle (TSU):l*b/2

10*10/2=50

fourth find the area of the triangle (QRU):l*b/2

10*20/2=100

area of the shaded portion=area of the SQUARE(PQRS)-(area of the triangle (PQT)+area of the triangle (TSU)+area of the triangle (QRU)

400-(100+50+100)=150cm2
