radius of bigger semi circle = 9÷2 = 4.5 cm

area of bigger semi circle = 1/2 πr²

= 1/2 × 22/7 × 45/10 × 45/10

= 11 /7 × 2025/100

= 22275÷700

= 31.82 cm²

area of shaded semi circle = 1/2 πr²

= 1/2 × 22/7 × 3/2 ×3/2

= 11/7 ×9/4

= 99÷28

= 3.53 cm²

area of unshaded 3 semi circles = 3/2 πr²

= 3/2 × 22/7 × 3/2 ×3/2

= 33/7 × 9/4

= 297÷28

= 10.60 cm

area of shaded region = 31.82 + 3.53 -10.60

= 24.75 cm²
