Step-by-step explanation:

shaded region= area of rectangle - area of 2 triangle

= l×b - [(Base×height÷2)+(2nd Base×2ndheight÷2)]

=13×8- [1/2(24+10)]

= 104-17

= 87 cm²

so area of shaded region is 87cm²

ANSWER = 87 cm²

CONSIDER THE TOTAL FIGURE,

IT IS A RECTANGLE

 \sf\boxed{\pink{ \: Area \: of \: rectangle = L × B }}

 \sf{•Length  = 8 cm}

 \sf{•breadth = 13 cm}

 \sf{•Area      = 8 × 13}

  \sf{•Area     = 104 cm²}

NOW CONSIDER THE TWO TRIANGLES ,

 \sf\boxed{\pink{ Area \: of \: Triangle = \frac{1}{2} (B×H) }}

 \sf{•Total \:  area \: of \: triangles=  (\:  \frac{1}{2} \times  3 \times 8 )+ ( \frac{1}{2}  \times 5 \times 2) } \\

 \sf{•Total \:  area \: of \: triangles=  \: 12  + 5}

 \sf{•Total  \: area \: of \: triangles= 17  \: {cm}^{2}}

NOW AREA OF SHADED REGION

AREA = TOTAL AREA - AREA OF TRIANGLES

= 104 - 17

= 87 cm²
