required area = area of the square - the area if two semicircles
side of square is 7cm
radius of semicircle is (7/2) cm
area of the square is 49 cm
area of one semicircle is (π(7/2)^2)/2 which is equal to 19.25cm

but there are 2 semicircles so 19.25×2 = 38.5

so required area is 49 - 38.5 = 10.5cm

i hope this helps

Given :  ABCD is a square of side 7cm and APD and BPC are semicircles

To find : area of Shaded region

Solution:

Area of Square  ABCD  = Side² = 7²  = 49 cm²

AD = BC = 7 cm = Diameter of Semicircle

=> Radius of Semicircle = 7/2  cm

Area of Each semicircle = (1/2)π(7/2)²

Area of both semicircle  = 2 *  (1/2)π(7/2)²

= π(7/2)²

using π = 22/7

= (22/7)(7/2)²

= 11 * 7 / 2

= 38.5 cm²

Area of Shaded region =  area of Square - Area of both semicircle

= 49 - 38.5

= 10.5  cm²

10.5  cm²   is the area of the shaded region
