radius of circle is 3.5 cm as two circle diameter is equal to the side of square so one circle diameter is 7 cm

 = 4 \times \: area \: of \: circle \\  = 4 \times \pi \times r ^{2}  \\  = 4 \times \pi \times 3.5 ^{2}  \\  = 154cm^{2}
side of square is 14 cm
 = area \: of \: square \\  = a^{2}  \\  = 14^{2}  \\  = 196cm^{2}
shaded \: region = area \: of \: square \:  -  \: area \: of \: 4 \: circle \\  = 196 \: cm^{2}  -  \: 154 \: cm^{2}  \\  = 42 {cm}^{2}
