area of square=
 \frac{1}{2}  \times ( {diagonal)}^{2}  \\  \\  \frac{1}{2}  \times 17 \times 17 \\  \\  \frac{289}{2}  \\  \\ 144.5 \:  \:  {cm}^{2}

diagonal =s√2
17=s√2
17/√2=s
area of sq.=(17/√2)²
=144.5cm²
