Step-by-step explanation:

Refer to the attachment,

There are a rectangle xuvt and three right-angled triangles i.e,. ∆xuw, ∆yvz and ∆ytx

There are a rectangle xuvt and three right-angled triangles i.e,. ∆xuw, ∆yvz and ∆ytxGiven, uv = xt = 17, ux = 15,

yt = yv - vt = yv - ux = 25 - 15 = 10

So, the area of the rectangle xuvt

A' = 17 × 15 = 255

Area of xuw, A1 = ½ × 15 × 10 = 75

Area of yvz, A2 = ½ × 25 × 12 = 150

Area of ytx, A3 = ½ × xt × yt = ½ × 17 × 10 = 85

The total area of the adjoining figure wxyz,

A = A' + A1 + A2 + A3 = 255 + 75 + 150 + 85

= 565
