Answer: 50 sq. cm

Step-by-step explanation:

let  the breadth be x cm

length=2x

2h(l+b)=120

2*4*(x+2x)=120

3x=15

x=5cm

length=2*5=10cm

area of base =l*b=5*10=50 cm2

Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

Area = 50 cm^2

◆ Explanation -

Lateral surface area is calculated by -

LSA = 2lh + 2bh

LSA = 2h (l + b)

120 = 2×4 (l + b)

l + b = 120 / 8

l + b = 15

Given that l = 2b.

2b + b = 15

3b = 15

b = 5 cm

Area of the base is -

Area = l × b

Area = 2b × b

Area = 2 × 5 × 5

Area = 50 cm^2

Hence, area of the base of a box is 50 sq.cm.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
