Find the area of the canvas required to make a conical tent 14 m high and 96 m in diameter .Given that:
i:20% of the canvas is used in folds and stitching's .

ii: canvas used in folds and stitching's is 20% of the curved surface area of the tent.

Hey mate here is your answer:

_______________________

Solution:

→For the conical tent :

→Height, h=14 m and radius , r = \frac{96}{2} \:m=48\:m,

→l²-h²+r²⇒l²=14²+48²,

→                       l= 50 m,∴ slant height = 50 m,

→Curved surface area of the tent = \pi rl,

→           \frac{22}{7}×48×50 m² = \frac{52800}{7} m².

I: let the area of the canvas required be x m²,

→x-20% of x = \frac{52800}{7} m²,

→                     x=\frac{66000}{7} m² = 9428\frac{4}{7} m²,

→∴ The area of the canvas = 9428\frac{4}{7} m².

II : Area of the canvas required = C.S.A of the tent + 20% of it

= \frac{52800}{7} m² + 20 % of

\frac{63360}{7} m ² = 9051\frac{3}{7} m².
