Area of cardboard= 2( lB +BH+ hl)

=2(35×20+20×12+12×35)

=2(700+240+420)

=2×1360

=2720 cm^2

I hope it's helpful for you.

Length (l) = 35cm
width (b) = 20cm
height (h) = 12 cm

so we know That the are of a cuboid = 2(lb+bh+hl)
but the cuboidal box is opened so the upper surface is subtracted

sjain53770: 2(lb+bh+hl) -lb
sjain53770: 2(35×20+20×12+12×35) -35×20
sjain53770: 2(1360)-700
sjain53770: 2720-700 = 2020
sjain53770: so the area of required cardboard be use is 2020 cm^2
