The area of the crossroads = Area of the two colored rectangles 
                                                   - Area of the red colored rectangle at the centre

(We are subtracting the area of the rectangle because we are taking it into consideration two times, once with the 62mx2m rectangle and the second time with the 75mx2m rectangle)
The required area = 62 * 2 + 75 * 2 - 2*2 = 124+150-4 = 270 sq. m
