We know that, The figure formed by joining the mid points of rectangle be a rhombus.

Thus, PQRS be a rhombus and PR and SQ are the diagonals of a rhombus.

Since P, Q, R and S be the mid point of a rectangle. So,

PR = BC = 16 cm

and, SQ = AB = 12 cm

Therefore,

Areaofrectangle=l×b=8×6=48sqcm

Therefore, area of the figure is 48

Hence, Area of the figure formed by joining the mid points of rectangle is 96
