Answer:

area of a rhombus is half the product of its diagonals

now in this im unable to understand if they have given the length for half a diagonal or the full length so ill do it both ways,

assuming that the length of the diagonals is equal...

if the full length is given,

17 × 17 is 289 and half of that is 244.5

if half length of the diagonal is given then 17 + 17 = 34

now 34 × 34 is 1156 and half of that is 578.

-×-×-×

now we can akso do this another way, assuming the diagonals are equal and the full length if the diagonal is given, if u see the diagonals cut the rhombus into right angled triangles, so half of 17 becomes the base and sinve the diagonals are equal, both the bases of the right angled triangle are known to us that is 8.5 and the hypotenuse we can take out by the Pythagoras theorem so, 8.5 sq × 2 is 144.5, now since the triangles are congruent, we can take out the are of this one triangle and multiply it by 4, so, half base × height so, half of 8.5 is 4.25 × 8.5 = 3.125 × 4 = 144.5.

so the area if the rhombus is 144.5 as we did from both ways and we proved it.

hope it helps.
