Since, area of quadrilateral = area of trapezium + area of triangle

so, firstly, area of trapezium,

= \frac{1}{2} × (a+b)× height

= \frac{1}{2} × (8+ 12) × 2

= 20 cm²

then, area of triangle,

= \frac{1}{2} × base × height

= \frac{1}{2} × 12 × 4

= 24 cm²

thus, area of quadrilateral ,

= area of trapezium + area of triangle

= 20 cm² + 24cm²

= 44cm² .....ANS
