Find the area of the following shapes :-

 \\

To find the area of the shape 1, we will;

  • Divide the shape into two rectangles, as follows;

Rectangle 1. → Length = 6 + 3 = 9cm

Breadth = 7cm

Thus, area of the Rectangle = Length × Breadth

= 9cm × 7cm = 63cm²

 \\

Rectangle 2. → Length = 2cm

Breadth = 3cm

Thus, area of the rectangle = Length × Breadth

= 2cm × 3cm = 6cm²

 \\

Now,

(63 + 6)cm² = 69cm²

Hence, the area of the shape 1 will be 69cm².

To find the area of shape 2, we will;

  • Divide the shape into rectangles, as follows;

Rectangle 1. → Length = 10cm - 3cm = 7cm

Breadth = 5cm

Thus, area of the rectangle = Length × Breadth

= 7cm × 5cm = 35cm²

 \\

Rectangle 2. → Length = 8cm

Breadth = 3cm

Thus, area of the rectangle = Length × Breadth

= 8cm × 3cm = 24cm²

Now,

(35 + 24)cm² = 59cm²

 \\

Hence, the area of the shape 2 will be 59cm².

 \\  \\

Thus, we can see that;

Area of first shape = 69cm²

Area of second shape = 59cm²

 \\

More Information :-

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

→ a × b = c
